Press Release:
NIA advises ITV Tonight programme - Money to Burn

Release Date 25 February 2010

ITV tonight programme is the most watched current affairs show on TV with over 5 million people tuning in each week.

In this particular episode which aired on 25th February, it reported on two households which both needed help to cut their energy bills and a third which will pay nothing for its gas and electricity in 2010.

Families in the UK face record fuel bills after the worst winter in 30 years. Now, when gas and electricity suppliers are being criticised over excess profits the programme demonstrated how to keep your money out of their pockets and in your own.

Millions of our homes are eligible to have low cost insulation fitted – and they featured an estate agent whose 4 bedroom detached house was in need of work.

After a thermal image of her home, an NIA Member spent a day fitting cavity wall and loft insulation at a cost of £300. According to figures the saving in the first year should add up to around £265 so experts agree that it is pretty cost effective.

The NIA helped the show in an advisory capacity.
